The position of the Munksjö Bridge between the city centre and the open lake is a controlling principle for the design of this urban construction. It is a cable-supported beam bridge, and this makes a thin bridge deck possible, ensuring generous clearance for rowers.
The bridge has a very slender deck suspended by steel rods from five pairs of pylons of tubular steel. The railings have built-in light fittings that illuminate footpaths and cycle paths as well as the roadway.
